Eastertime in Sofia

                                                                      Golden Domes

The Hagia Sophia Church and the The eternal flame at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier
This church gave its name to the city, which was known under various other names throughout the centuries; Hagia Sophia means Holy wisdom in Greek

St. Sophia, the patron saint of the city,
  the goddess of wisdom
(interestingly, Athens is the goddess of wisdom
 in the Greek mythology)

St. George, the red brick rotunda built by the Romans, the oldest building in the city
(built as a pagan temple, reconstructed as a baptistery by Justinian the Great in 6th century AD, converted into a mosque during the Ottoman period, it finally was reinstated as a church)
